Maintaining a social life can be difficult for nurses. Their schedules rarely match those of friends who work regular hours. Invitations to gatherings may have to be declined because of work shifts or exhaustion.
Over time, this can create distance between nurses and their social circles. Friends may not always understand why they are unavailable or why they cancel plans at the last minute due to work demands.
Many nurses find themselves living in two worlds—the intense environment of the hospital and the outside world that continues moving without fully understanding their experiences.
